Councillor Dawn Arnold

In May 2012 Dawn Arnold was elected as Councillor at Large for the City of Moncton. The recipient of the Order of New Brunswick, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and the YWCA’s Women of Distinction Award is a proud Monctonian who believes in giving back to her community.

Since 2000 Dawn has been involved in establishing and growing the Frye Festival (Canada’s only bilingual, international literary Festival and Atlantic Canada’s largest literary happening). The Frye Festival reaches 10,000 students annually, hires many local artists and has welcomed international award-winning authors and more than $1 million to the community every year since 2000. The Frye Festival puts Moncton on the world stage, all in a fiscally responsible manner…and is a huge passion for Dawn, particularly as it relates to inspiring youth to read, write and imagine.

Dawn, a graduate of the University of Toronto, Harvard and Université Paul-Valérie, is a keen listener and is eager to offer her time to hear suggestions and ideas from all Monctonians. She is Co-Chair of the Downtown Moncton Revitalization Committee, is a member the Operations Committee, the Downtown Moncton Centreville Board, the Moncton Public Library Board, the Codiac Transit Interim Governance Board, the Riverfront Committee and the Bilingualism in Moncton Committee. Dawn is married to Paul Goobie and is mother to Emma and Zack.
