6th Annual George LeBlanc Accordion Festival

July 23, 2013

MONCTON – The George LeBlanc Accordion Festival is scheduled for its sixth and undoubtedly, its most successful edition in Moncton this summer from Thursday, July 25 through Saturday, July 27. The three-day festival, to be held at the Moncton Lions Club and in two downtown venues, is sure to please!

Introduced to Moncton in 2008 by the late accordion player, George LeBlanc, the Accordion Festival draws an audience of both local spectators and festival-goers from throughout the region and beyond, all of whom share an appreciation for accordion music.

“The George LeBlanc Accordion Festival has become a staple of our summer event scene in Moncton and we’re very proud to support such a unique event,” said Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc. “Whether you’re a folklore enthusiast, or coming to see the event for the first time, this one-of-a-kind experience is something to behold.”

The 6th Annual George LeBlanc Accordion Festival, will include over 100 guest accordion players from all over Canada, featuring well-known accordion ‘stars’, Robert Boutet, as well as Laurencio Beaudin and his band, Le Vent des Cantons. Audience members will have the opportunity to meet many of the accordion players during the festival.

Come enjoy three days of fantastic entertainment sponsored by the City of Moncton and supported by CJSE, KENT, Roland Canada and Long & McQuade. Food, drinks, door prizes, CDs by various participating accordion players, and hand-crafted accordions will also be available during the event!

Festival concerts at Moncton City Hall and at the Marché Moncton Market are free of charge. For other events at the Moncton Lions Centre (Mark Avenue), tickets will be on sale for $7 at the door one hour before show time.

Registration:
All accordion players are invited to participate in the festival for free. Registration will take place on site, at the Accordion Festival. Each accordion player will have the opportunity to play the same number of pieces following registration. For more information, please contact an event organizer at 871-0267 or 372-8011.
