Active Transportation Week – May 25 - June 1st

May 21, 2014

MONCTON – A car isn’t your only mode of transportation. The City of Moncton, in conjunction with La Bikery and Codiac Transpo, is proud to present the first annual Active Transportation Week, happening from May 25 to June 1st, 2014, to help promote alternate and active transportation, as well as the City’s active transportation network.

“The City of Moncton has a great system of trails, bike lanes and shared roads for residents to pursue a healthy and active lifestyle,” said Joanne Lamarche, Community Development Officer for the City of Moncton. “We want citizens to embrace  the spring weather and utilize active opportunities for transportation, not only during this week, but throughout the summer and fall.”

Residents are encouraged to walk, bike or bus to their destinations and post a photo of themselves walking, biking or taking the bus on La Bikery’s Facebook page (facebook.com/LaBikery) for a chance to win an Active Transportation prize pack at the end of the week.

There are also great events happening throughout the week:

  • Bike Rodeo: Sunday, May 25 – 1-4 p.m.
Children 12 years-old and under are invited to participate in this fun activity at La Bikery (120 Assomption Blvd)
  • Slow Vélo: Saturday, May 31 – 10 a.m.
How slow can you go? Join us at the Moncton Market for this unique bicycling event.
