Alan Frew of Glass Tiger to headline Canada Day Festivities

May 18, 2016

MONCTON – Moncton’s Riverfront Park will be rockin’ on July 1st, with Canadian rock legend Alan Frew! Frew, whose work with Glass Tiger has garnered him five Juno Awards, a Grammy nomination and five Canadian Classic Awards, will be headlining the Whoa Canada! concert, capping off a full day of fun and entertainment for residents and visitors of all ages.

“Moncton’s Whoa Canada! event attracts over 15,000 people annually,” said Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc. “Particularly this year, we hope our newest residents will join us in celebrating Canada Day at this family-friendly festival. Alan Frew’s music has had a lasting impact on the Canadian rock scene, and I’m sure everyone will have a great time at the show!”

In recent years, Alan Frew has released two solo albums, co-written the 2010 Vancouver Olympics theme song “I Believe”, and published the best-selling book ‘The Action Sandwich-A Six Step Recipe to Success by Doing What You’re Already Doing’. In support of his latest album 80290 Rewind (2015), Frew, a five-time JUNO Award winner and Grammy nominee, will perform interpretations of some of the best-loved songs from 1980-1990, including Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” hits by Glass Tiger and more.

As has become tradition, downtown Moncton will also play host to children’s entertainment and activities in the afternoon, leading up to the evening concert and fireworks extravaganza. Further programming details will be released in June.
