RELEASE
MONCTON – Due to an amazing turnout at the first Zumba for Haiti fundraiser held last night, a second date has been set for Monday, February 8, 2010, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Moncton Coliseum Agrena C. More than 500 people attended Friday night’s event, helping to raise more than $3,400!
The City of Moncton, with support from SSI Audio, Greenlight Design, Lloyds of Moncton, and In Colour, invites everyone to come experience the newest dance exercise craze, Zumba, for a great cause—Haiti relief! All proceeds go towards Haitian earthquake relief.
There is a five-dollar minimum donation to take part in the class. A coat-check will also be provided, with all donations going to the same cause.
Zumba is designed for men and women of all levels of fitness. It has Latin inspired rhythms with easy to follow moves. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Originating from Columbia, Zumba was brought to the United States in 2001. It quickly became a smash hit and by 2007 Zumba was launched internationally.
Instructing the class will be Monique Phinney, a City of Moncton employee and certified Zumba instructor (1 and 2). Monique has over 22 years experience as a fitness instructor.
Participants are reminded to wear comfortable sneakers and fitness clothing to this fitness-based class. Also, please arrive early; doors open at 6 p.m. and class starts at 6:30 p.m. sharp!
