City of Moncton and Music New Brunswick announce new event development partnership

April 11, 2017

MONCTON – The City of Moncton and Music New Brunswick (MNB) announced the establishment of an event development partnership today that aims to both expand Moncton’s event roster and support the development of the music industry in Moncton, and all of New Brunswick.

The partnership will see the hosting of MNB’s Festival (506) in Moncton in 2017 and 2019, the presentation of a New Brunswick Day celebration in Moncton, and MNB’s presentation of a musical performance by a local New Brunswick artist as part of Moncton’s annual outdoor concert series, Acoustica.

“Moncton is thrilled to partner with such an outstanding organization as Music New Brunswick on this wonderful initiative”, says Mayor Dawn Arnold.  “Our city is known for its rich musical culture and solid event hosting reputation. This partnership is the perfect opportunity for Moncton to grow its event offering all while celebrating local talents and promoting the music industry.”

“Music, and especially live music, has a strong impact on a community’s quality of life,” points out Jean Surette, Executive Director of MNB. “It helps create a vibrant and creative environment which benefits residents and businesses, and attracts visitors. We are happy to be working in collaboration with the City of Moncton to foster our local cultural economy.”

“This partnership is an excellent example of how two organizations joining forces to collaborate can yield such great benefits for the entire community and for an important sector in our city and province”, added Mayor Arnold.
