City of Moncton appoints acting City Manager

MONCTON – The City of Moncton is pleased to announce the appointment of Don MacLellan as acting City Manager, effective August 13, 2016. Mr. MacLellan is long-time employee of the municipality, and will keep his current position as the General Manager of Community Safety Services, responsible for the Moncton Fire Department, Building Inspection, Codiac Transpo, By-law Enforcement and Urban Planning, as well as the liaison to the Codiac Regional RCMP. He is also the Past President and New Brunswick representative on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA). 

“I, along with Council, have complete confidence in Mr. MacLellan’s ability to take on this vitally important leadership role until we hire Moncton’s next City Manager,” said Mayor Dawn Arnold. “This transitional period will not slow down all the excellent projects that are happening in our city and with Mr. MacLellan’s leadership, we will continue to move Moncton forward in everything that we do.” 

“I am truly honoured to take on the role of interim City Manager over the coming months. I look forward to working with the Mayor and Council, and our very dedicated staff team in continuing to move our terrific City in a positive and progressive direction,” stated Don MacLellan.

With the recent announcement of Jacques Dubé’s departure, an RFP has already been issued to retain the professional services of an Executive Recruitment and Selection specialist, with the deadline to submit proposals set for August 24.
