City of Moncton appoints new General Manager of Codiac Transpo

March 15, 2013

MONCTON – Following an extensive search, the City of Moncton is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Allain to the position of General Manager of Codiac Transpo.  The position has been vacant since the retirement of John Allain in December 2012.

“While our recent recruitment process allowed us to talk with a number of very good candidates, the process confirmed that we have a very qualified, knowledgeable and capable individual within our organization that is ready for the challenge of leading Codiac Transpo into the future. Angela brings with her a positive vision for growing, and continuously improving, the transit system, combined with a realistic view of the need for financial sustainability,” says Don MacLellan, Moncton’s General Manager of Community Safety Services. “She has demonstrated her knowledge of the transit industry and what it takes to lead the operational side of a transit system.”

“I’m very excited to be leading Codiac Transpo going forward, to work to gain customer ridership and provide an efficient transit system with a great group of employees, for our citizens now and into the future,” says Angela Allain.

Ms. Allain has been the Acting General Manager of Codiac Transpo, as well as continuing to handle her duties as Director of Operations, since John Allain’s retirement. She began her career with Codiac Transpo in 1991 in a marketing and promotions role. In 1995, she was appointed to the position of Director of Operations and has held that post with the organization since. Ms. Allain will assume her new post immediately.

As Director of Operations, Ms. Allain was heavily involved in the negotiation process and in reaching a new agreement with the Amalgamated Transit Union 1290 that will improve transit operations into the future. She also took a leadership role in the development of the new transit route system.
