City of Moncton water meters replacement project

November 21, 2016

MONCTON – The City of Moncton is undertaking a phased 10-year project to replace aging residential water meters and water meter transmitting units (MTU), and is requesting collaboration of the property owners in scheduling appointments. This program, which was approved by City Council in early 2014, is designed to upgrade the technology for approximately 18,000 water meters and MTU's.

The new water meters and MTUs will reduce long-term maintenance costs and will be installed at no cost to the property owners/tenant.

For those homes where the units must be replaced, City of Moncton Water Meter Technicians will deliver contact information so the resident can schedule an appointment.

Notices will only be delivered to properties where meters have not been installed or replaced in the last ten years.

Appointments, which will take approximately one hour, will be available Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Wednesdays to Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The City appreciates the cooperation of residents during this project.
