Cultural Mapping Forum

September 6, 2013

MONCTON – The City of Moncton invites residents to help identify cultural resources in Moncton at the Cultural Mapping Forum on Tuesday, September 17th at Moncton City Hall (655 Main Street). Registration begins at 6 p.m.

The City of Moncton joins leading municipalities in undertaking a Cultural Mapping Project to identify and document the community’s rich and diverse cultural resources.

Part of the cultural mapping process involves collecting, analyzing and producing information in order to recognize cultural resources and isolate issues. Feedback from the community and stakeholders is key to this process.

The Cultural Mapping Project was undertaken as a means of strengthening the link between the City and its important cultural, business and community partners to realize the opportunities presented by these plans to both strengthen the city’s cultural sector and increase culture’s contribution to larger City plans and priorities. Moncton is the first municipality in Atlantic Canada to undertake a comprehensive cultural mapping project.
