DESTINATION 2040 – On-board transit survey

March 28, 2013

GREATER MONCTON – During the first two weeks of April, Codiac Transpo, in partnership with the City of Moncton, the City of Dieppe and the Town of Riverview, will conduct an On-Board Bus Survey with its ridership. The survey is being conducted as part of the Destination2040 Regional Sustainable Transportation Master Plan, and the results will help municipal and provincial planners better understand the travel patterns of transit users in order to make informed decisions for an improved transportation future.

Passengers on board buses will be asked to fill out a short confidential survey about where they travel to and from, the purpose of their trips, and how frequently they use transit. The surveys will be conducted on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons on April 2, 4, 9, and 11. A representative selection of bus routes will be surveyed.

Explains Stéphane Thibodeau, Transportation Coordinator for the City of Moncton, and chair of the Destination2040 Technical Committee: “The survey is voluntary. However, it is important that we obtain a good representation of all transit passengers, and we are looking forward to a positive response from our passengers!”

The survey will be conducted by professional research firm R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd. Survey staff will be clearly identified.

Destination2040 will envision the necessary components of a transportation network that promotes a vibrant, healthy community by using a combination of land use designation and urban design and policy that makes sustainable transportation modes (walk, cycling, and public transit) viable in the region.
