Earth Day

April 17, 2014

MONCTON – The City of Moncton would like to invite citizens to consider the environment in celebration of Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.

Earth Day was first recognized in Canada in 1990 when Canadians joined over 140 nations in celebrating the first International Earth Day.

Earth Day is also the perfect opportunity to renew your commitment to living in harmony with the environment.  Actions such as conserving water and energy, along with buying and eating locally can all make a difference and help to support a healthier environment.

Moncton’s numerous parks, trails and recreation facilities also offer many opportunities to explore nature and enjoy the outdoors.

There will be an Earth Day celebration on Sunday, April 27 from 9 am to 4 pm at the Moncton Market, 120 Westmorland Street.  This free admission event will feature activities for all ages including yoga,  a green expo, a youth eco-art exhibit, children’s activities, music, local food, and much more.
