Economy Glass Future Stars Football Festival

MONCTON – The City of Moncton is proud to welcome back the 4th annual Economy Glass Future Stars Football Festival from September 15 to 20.  Games will be taking place at Rocky Stone Field with the exception of some Sunday, September 15 games which will take place at other community fields.

The Future Stars Festival was first held as part of the CFL Touchdown Atlantic festivities in 2010 and 2011. The success of the festival led organizers to continue the event, which is now in its fourth successful year.

“We have had the privilege of watching some truly great football over the course of this festival,” said Bob Savoie, member of the Future Stars Festival Committee. “I’m quite certain that 2013 will be no different, and we’re excited to see what our young stars have in store for us.”

The Future Stars Festival will feature exciting games from local high school football stars, and will also see Timbit, Pee Wee, Atom and Bantam level games; part of the Moncton Football Association. The Economy Glass Future Stars Festival schedule is as follows:

Tickets for High School games are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets for games can be purchased on site. Admission to the Moncton Football Association games is by donation of a non-perishable food item.

Once again, fans can get involved by showing off their passion for their school as the festival will be awarding Spirit Prizes. At the beginning of each game, each school will participate in a march displaying school colours, while at halftime each school will show a display of school spirit.

“Once again we challenged the high school fans to get involved by showing off their passion for their school,” explained Norval McConnell, committee member.  “The Spirit Cup, now known as the Ian Fowler School Spirit Cup, will be awarded to one deserving school—however we know all students will come out in full force during this year’s Economy Glass Future Stars Festival!”
