Fifteen residents rescued from house fire

MONCTON – At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Friday, February 8, the Moncton Fire Department responded to a call at 206-208 Park Street. Upon arrival, firefighters noticed smoke coming from the roof/attic. All 15 residents escaped the building unharmed; the Red Cross is providing assistance.

The MFD responded with 3 vehicles, and spent two hours on the scene to extinguish the fire. The MFD Fire Prevention team is now investigating the cause of the incident, and the building has been condemned until further notice.

The MFD reiterates the importance of installing smoke alarms, and practicing an escape plan with your family.
