Heritage Week with Resurgo Place and the Moncton Public Library

MONCTON — In celebration of Heritage Week 2014, Resurgo Place and the Moncton Public Library are hosting FREE activities February 10 to 17.  All activities will take place at the Moncton Public Library (644 Main Street). 

The scheduled activities are:

  •  From Monday, February 10 until Monday, February 17 during regular hours: exhibit of military artefacts
  •  On Wednesday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Floor Conference Room: Special presentation of the film “Houses in Jig Time” (original version in English, 15 minutes). This film documents how a Moncton company called Parsons Construction revolutionized wartime housing construction, manufacturing entire neighbourhoods in mere months.  Following the screening, Lawren Campbell, Heritage and Culture Coordinator with the City of Moncton, will present an overview of how the first such neighbourhood was created South of Connaught Avenue in Moncton and how 100 houses were built in just 66 days!
  •  Saturday, February 15, 10 a.m. to  12 p.m., Main Floor Conference Room: Crafts and games for children aged 6 -12 – “Children during the First World War ”: Through interactive activities, such as making a teddy bear with rice, participants will learn how children lived during the war, what they did for fun, and how they helped with the war effort.  *Space is limited; registration is recommended by contacting the Library at 869 6000.

All activities fall under the theme for Heritage Week 2014, “New Brunswick Remembers (1914-2014) Le Nouveau-Brunswick se souvient” in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I, as well as the 75th anniversary of the commencement of World War II.
