Holiday Garbage Collection and Christmas Tree Disposal

MONCTON – The City of Moncton would like to notify residents that there will be no garbage collection on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. Residents whose garbage pickup falls on these days should consult the following collection changes. Please note, all collection pickup hours will remain the same, only the dates will change. Wednesday, December 25
Residents who normally set out their garbage Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning for Wednesday pick-up, please set out your garbage Thursday night or Friday morning for Friday pick-up.

Thursday, December 26
Residents who normally set out their garbage Wednesday evening or Thursday morning for Thursday pick-up, please set out your garbage Friday night or Saturday morning for Saturday pick-up.

Wednesday, January 1
Residents who normally set out their garbage Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning for Wednesday pick-up, please set out your garbage Thursday night or Friday morning for Friday pick-up.

Garbage collection for days other than those noted remains the same.

The increased volume of household waste during the holidays may cause delays to the waste collection. The City of Moncton appreciates your patience.

Remember:  Cardboard must be broken down and placed in a transparent blue bag, or bundled and tied with no dimension exceeding 0.6 metres (2 feet). To ensure the safety of collection staff, please do not place waste on snow banks.

Christmas Tree Disposal

The following sites have been set up to receive Christmas trees following the holidays. From December 27, 2013 to January 11, 2014, please bring your tree to one of the following locations:
• Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena
• Ball field off Crowley Farm Road
• Former Dud James Arena, Limerick Street
• Moncton Coliseum
• Mapleton Park (Gorge Road entrance)
• Moncton Wesleyan Church on St. George Boulevard
• Fairview Knoll playground (south end of Fairview Knoll Drive)

There is also free drop-off at RecycleSENB on Berry Mills Road beginning December 27. Info: 877-1040

Residents who are not able to bring their trees to one of these drop-off locations may set them out at the curb on their regular garbage collection day during the week of January 13 to 17, 2014 only. Info: 859-2643.
