Join the Wellness Week Movement: October 1-7, 2014

MONCTON – The City of Moncton is asking everyone to join the wellness movement!  October 1-7 is New Brunswick Wellness Week and presents the perfect opportunity for Monctonians to get out and get active.

New Brunswick Wellness Week provides opportunities for schools, workplaces, groups, organizations and communities to promote and celebrate wellness by hosting wellness activities and events that address mental fitness and resilience, healthy eating, physical activity and/or tobacco-free living.

Free activities are offered throughout Wellness Week, in partnership with the St. Pat’s Family Centre, the YMCA of Greater Moncton, the Red Ball Internet Centre and the Crossman Community Centre/Kay Arena.

The following free activities are scheduled here in Moncton:

Wellness and Nutrition Seminar
YMCA Greater Moncton (30 War Veterans Avenue)
Wednesday, October 1st – 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. – Multipurpose Room

Open Gym
Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena (99 Wynwood Drive)
Friday, October 3 – 2:15 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Saturday, October 4 – 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Children ages 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian

Swimming
YMCA Greater Moncton (30 War Veterans Avenue)
Saturday, October 4 – 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. – Public Swim
Sunday, October 5 – 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. – Public Swim

Aquazumba
St. Pat’s Family Centre (34 Providence Street)
Monday, October 6 – 7:15 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Limit of 40 people. First come, first served.

Skating
Redball Internet Centre (55 Russ Howard Drive)
Monday, October 6 – 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. – Public Skating*

Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena (99 Wynwood Drive)
Tuesday, October 7 – 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. – Public Skating *
*CSA approved helmets must be worn when on the ice

Walking/Running
Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena (99 Wynwood Drive)
Walking/Running track will be open daily. Check redballinternetcentre.com/crossman for full schedule.

There are also a variety of ways of being active year round by taking advantage of the city’s numerous facilities, trails, green spaces and parks.
