October 9, 2014
MONCTON – The City of Moncton is pleased to announce that Cathy Simon of the Magnetic Hill Zoo has been awarded with the Zoo or Aquarium Professional of the Year by the CAZA (Canada’s Accredited Zoos and Aquariums) Awards Committee. Cathy is the Magnetic Hill Zoo’s Visitor and Education Programs Coordinator and has been given this award for her outstanding contribution to the Magnetic Hill Zoo and the City of Moncton.
This award recognizes innovation and significant contribution to the zoo and aquarium field by employees. The award was formally known as the Animal Care Professional of the year and this is the first year that the scope of the award has increased to include other zoo departments such as education, conservation, research, etc. Bernie Gallant and Jamie Carson, both employees of the Magnetic Hill Zoo, have each previously won the award in 2009 and 2011 respectively.
