Moncton hosting two RCMP commemoration events

May 29, 2015

MONCTON – Monctonians are invited to recognize the Codiac Regional RCMP, and specifically remember the three fallen officers – Constables Doug Larche, Dave Ross, and Fabrice Gevaudan, at two events scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 4, marking the first anniversary of their passing.

Permanent Monument Concept Unveiling
In collaboration with the Government of Canada, the Province of New Brunswick and the New Brunswick RCMP, the City of Moncton will unveil the architectural model of the chosen commemorative monument to be erected in memory of the three RCMP Constables. The artist chosen by the selection committee will be on hand to explain the creative process, and a site plan will be presented.

This event will begin at 12 p.m. (noon), and will take place in City Hall Plaza (655 Main Street). It should be noted that parking at City Hall will likely be unavailable.

RCMP Musical Ride
In addition, the RCMP will be presenting its Musical Ride, as an expression of gratitude for the residents’ #MonctonSpirit during the tragic events of June 4, 2014. This event will be held at the Magnetic Hill concert site, beginning at 7 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to park at the following locations: various parking lots within the Magnetic Hill site zone (incl. Wharf Village, Magic Mountain and the Zoo), as well as at Crandall University. Carpooling is highly recommended, and it is anticipated that traffic will be heavy in advance of the event, so spectators should plan ahead.
