New Year’s Weekend Celebrations

MONCTON – Moncton is the place to be this New Year’s weekend with exciting events planned to help you start 2017 on the right foot! On December 31, bring your family down to the Moncton Coliseum for the family fun zone in the agrena before the Moncton Wildcats games. After the game, head downtown for an array of activities followed by a concert at Riverfront Park, featuring Jimmy Rankin. A brilliant fireworks show will close off the evening. On January 1, head to the Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena for the New Year’s Levee. Then lace up your skates and sneakers for active fun for all! 


  • Moncton Wildcats vs. Charlottetown Islanders game at 2 pm. Come to the Coliseum Agrena before the game and enjoy the family fun zone with bouncy castles, face painting and more. Doors open at 12 pm. Entry with game ticket.
  • The kick-off celebrations to Canada’s 150th anniversary is happening downtown with many different activities to suite your tastes at Riverfront Park, the Capitol Theatre and Resurgo Place. For the full program, visit moncton.ca/Canada150. 


All residents are invited to celebrate the arrival of 2017 for free activities on January 1st at the Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena (99 Wynwood Drive).

“After the excitement of New Year’s Eve, I invite all Monctonians to attend the New Year’s Day Levee and Leisure event at the Crossman Community Centre – Kay Arena to exchange New Year’s greetings and best wishes for 2017. Let’s start the New Year off right with health, fitness and fun! Drop by for a skate, to chat with members of Council and meet new friends,” says Mayor Dawn Arnold.

  • New Year’s Levee
    Join in on this traditional holiday event from 12 to 1 pm for hors d’oeuvres and refreshments to start the New Year! 
    *Please note the change of location as the Levee is typically held at City Hall.
  • New Year’s Day Active Fun
    Start the year off by being active from 1 to 5 p.m. Enjoy skating, access to the walking track and gymnasium (ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult) and inflatable games (ages 10 and under).  Proper indoor footwear is required and all skating safety rules apply.
