New travelling exhibit “Meals on Wheels” at Resurgo Place

May 16, 2017

All aboard! The dining car is open!
New travelling exhibit “Meals on Wheels” at Resurgo Place

MONCTON —Resurgo Place invites you to come and discover Meals on Wheels, a bilingual travelling exhibit that will be on display until September 3, 2017. Rail fans will find this exhibit to be like a culinary trip and gourmets will have a unique opportunity to discover the evolution of food aboard trains. This exhibition provides a look at the exceptional contribution made by railway catering to modern culinary art through vintage crockery, silverware, menus, archival documents and billboards.

Faster! Further! Long before the advent of aircraft and cars, railways changed the way we travel. At that time only comfort and luxury were missing from enjoying the beauty of breathtaking landscapes. Longer distance travel created dining cars to satisfy the traveller’s appetite.

This exhibition was produced by Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum. The project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada, and through the support of the ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec, Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec and MRC de Roussillon.

Related programming will also be offered throughout the exhibit being on display!

Hours of operations are Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 12-5 p.m. Resurgo Place is open until 8 p.m. on the last Thursday of every month.
