Platinum Blonde Headlines Canada Day Festivities in Downtown Moncton

May 26, 2014

MONCTON – The City of Moncton is thrilled to announce that Canadian rock legends Platinum Blonde will headline one of the biggest free outdoor Canada Day celebrations in Atlantic Canada: Whoa Canada!

Platinum Blonde will bring their brand of rock to Moncton for Canada Day and will cap off a great day of festivities in the heart of our downtown. The multi-time platinum selling artists have had many chart topping hits during their successful career, including “Standing in the Dark”, “It Doesn’t Really Matter”, “Crying Over You”, “Somebody Somewhere” and their latest singles “Beautiful” and “Valentine” (platinumblondeworld.com).

“We are extremely excited to welcome Platinum Blonde to Moncton to headline our Whoa Canada! festivities, and to have such a diverse and strong line-up to offer on July 1st,” says Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc. “As an entertainment hub, Moncton is dedicated to growing its Canada Day program into something bigger and better each year, and 2014 is no exception.”

Joining Platinum Blonde on Canada Day will be Juno Award winner and recipient of multiple Éloizes awards, Wilfred LeBouthillier. The singer-songwriter from Tracadie-Sheila burst on to the music scene when he was crowned champion of the Québec reality show Star Académie in 2003. Lebouthillier has gone on to release four top selling albums and many chart topping hits such as “Je ferai tout”, “Avec toi”, “Jimmy joue”, “Un petit morceau de moi” and his latest single “Peu m’importe” (wilfredlebouthillier.com).

Also performing on Canada’s 147th birthday on the Whoa Canada! stage will be Moncton’s own Angry Candy (facebook.com/angrycandyband). Angry Candy were runner-up on the reality show Canada’s Got Talent in 2012 and have recently released their debut EP.

Information on the full Canada Day program will be released at a later date.
