Presence of Blue-Green Algae in Irishtown Nature Park

August 14, 2015

MONCTON – The City of Moncton wishes to advise park users of a precautionary advisory issued at Irishtown Nature Park. Due to warm temperatures, blue-green algae are collecting along the banks of the reservoir therefore the water is off limits to recreation. Kayaking and canoeing is suspended at this time. Pet owners are asked to keep their dogs out of the water and not let them drink or swim in the water at this time.

Public advisories are posted on all park bulletin boards. Signage from Department of Health has also been installed along the trails and all access points to water.

Please check moncton.ca weekly for updated conditions.

The City of Moncton will continue to monitor the situation and advise of any updates as conditions change.

The City of Moncton apologizes for any inconveniences, and wishes to thank users of the park for their cooperation to ensure visitor safety.
