Road Closures and Detours – IGT Legs for Literacy

MONCTON - The City of Moncton wishes to advise the motoring public of delays or detours in the following areas due to the IGT Legs for Literacy Marathon happening in the city this weekend. 

Detours and closures for Sunday, October 23, 2016:

Time: 6 am until 3:30 pm 

  • Full street closure of Main St. from Westmorland St. to Assomption Blvd.
  • Full street closure of Mechanic St. from Main St. to Assomption Blvd. 

Time: 6 am until 11 am (re-opening the street following the last runner) 

  • Full closure of all westbound lanes on Assomption Blvd. from Main St. to Lutz St. (Leaving controlled access to residents)
  • Full closure of Lutz St. from Assomption Blvd. to Main St. (Leaving controlled access to residents)
  • Full closure of Record St. and Albert St. (Leaving controlled access to residents)
  • Closure of one westbound lane of Assomption Blvd. between Albert St. and Vaughan Harvey Blvd.
    o Full and Half marathon runners will be crossing at intersection of Assomption Blvd. and Vaughan Harvey Blvd. to access sidewalk and trail south of Assomption Blvd.
  • Closure of one north-bound lane of Vaughan Harvey Blvd. from Assomption Blvd. to John St. 
  • Full closure of all eastbound lanes on Main St. from Vaughan Harvey Blvd. to Lutz St. 
  • Full closure of St George St. from Vaughan Harvey Blvd. to Highfield St. 
  • Closure of one southbound lane of Highfield St. from St George St. to Dufferin St. 
  • Full closure of Dufferin St. from Highfield St. to Weldon St. (Leaving controlled access to residents)
  • Full closure of Weldon St. from Dufferin St. to John St. (Leaving controlled access to residents)
  • Full closure of Cameron St. from John St. to Park St. 
  • Full closure of Park St. from Cameron St. to High St. (Leaving controlled access to residents)
  • Full closure of High St. from Park St. to John St. (Leaving controlled access to residents) 
  • Closure of one eastbound lane of John St. from Weldon St. to Vaughan Harvey Blvd. (Leaving controlled access to residents)

The City is asking motorists to use alternate routes when at all possible, and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause, and thanks residents and visitors for their collaboration. The City also invites everyone to come and cheer on the athletes!
