Road Closures for Acadie Rock Festival

MONCTON - The City of Moncton wishes to advise the motoring public of delays or detours in the following areas to allow the following events to occur: Acadie Rock Festival on Friday, August 15, 2014.

As a part of the Acadie Rock Festival, the annual parade (Tintamarre) will depart from the Aberdeen Cultural Centre at 6:45 p.m. The parade route goes as follows:

  • Leaving Aberdeen Park using southwest corner of park onto Botsford (at St. George);
  • Down Botsford (south);
  • Right onto Main Street (west);
  • Left onto Westmorland Street (south);
  • Cross Assomption Boulevard;
  • Arrival at Riverfront.

The duration of the closure will be approximately one hour and the streets will be reopened as the procession moves along. 

The Acadie Rock concert at Riverfront Park begins at 7:30 p.m. To accommodate the concert, Assomption Boulevard, from Westmorland Street to Mechanic Street, will be closed from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 15 until 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 16. The intersections of Assomption/Westmorland and Assomption/Mechanic will remain open to traffic.

There will also be a Noise By-Law exemption granted from 11 p.m. on Friday, August 15 to 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 16 at Riverfront Park.

The City is asking motorists to use alternate routes when at all possible, and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause, and also encourages residents and visitors to check out the events.
