Summer activities in Moncton

July 16, 2014

MONCTON – The City of Moncton invites residents and visitors alike to partake in the many fun summer activities in Moncton.

“We encourage all citizens to get out and enjoy the many opportunities our parks and recreation facilities have to offer residents in the summer,” said Jocelyn Cohoon, Director of Leisure Services with the City of Moncton. “Special programming is offered during the summer months and we hope to have participation from young and old alike!”

In the months of July and August, Irishtown Nature Park will be offering free fun nature walks for all ages. Come meet our nature interpreter and learn about the diversity of wildlife inhabiting this beautiful natural space all within the city limits.

Walks are scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. (English) and 3:30 p.m. (French), Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. (Kids/Family) and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. (English) and 3:30 p.m. (French).

On July 20, residents are invited to Centennial Park for in motion Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Enjoy half price admission to the Kiwanis Centennial Beach and take advantage of some free tennis or lawn bowling. Go for a walk or bike ride on the trails or test your abilities on the obstacle course and climbing wall at the Centennial Outdoor Centre.

Until August 31, the YMCA of Greater Moncton, in partnership with the City of Moncton, is offering public swims at a rate of $2 per person for non-members every Wednesday and Sunday.

Public swims are open Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Also, why not have some fun in one of the City’s neighbourhood playgrounds. Many of our playgrounds offer programs for children of all ages throughout the months of July and August. Visit moncton.ca for a listing of the City’s playgrounds.
