Tap water is my water Campaign

June 17, 2016

MONCTON – A new campaign to promote the drinking of tap water is being launched to all residents living in the tri-community. “Tap water is my water” aims to encourage everyone to drink more water from the tap as an easy choice to improve health and well-being every day.

The municipalities of Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview, as well as The Petitcodiac Watershed Alliance, Downtown Moncton Inc. and Veolia Water have joined in partnership to promote tap water and all its benefits. Bumper stickers are available for anyone wishing to show their support. Businesses may also join the campaign by placing a sticker in their store-front window indicating support of tap water and identifying as a tap water refill location.

“This is really an opportunity to celebrate our delicious, clean water, but most importantly, provide better access for residents who do not have the benefit and/or access to water,” says Kayla BreeLove Carter, Community Development Officer for Social Inclusion with the City of Moncton. “It is also a way to promote active living and making environmentally conscious decisions.”
“Clean water is a basic human need, but not always available to people,” says Christine McLauchlan, executive Director of the Petitcodiac Watershed Alliance. “We hope businesses will self-identify as being a place where people can refill their water bottles for free, providing access to anyone looking to stay hydrated.”
Businesses and residents may check their municipalities’ websites to obtain a sticker or for more information.
