The “Keep Moncton Clean” Project

May 16, 2013

MONCTON – Looking for a team building exercise that will help the environment? Are you looking for ways to beautify your surroundings, but don’t know where to start? The City of Moncton is inviting groups, associations, businesses, neighbourhoods, families and residents alike to help clean up our parks, trails and neighbourhoods.

The Keep Moncton Clean project goes from May 21 until June 21 and the City is looking for people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and help make Moncton a beautiful and clean city.

“This is an initiative that allows us to get the community involved in the beautification of Moncton,” said Dan Hicks, Parks and Grounds Supervisor with the City of Moncton. “Monctonians are passionate about how their city looks, so we’re offering them a way to help us keep Moncton clean for everyone.”

Register on moncton.ca to get out and clean an area in your neighbourhood, a nearby trail or park, or a location in the City that is in need of cleaning.

The City will provide your group, organization, family or yourself with a clean-up kit which contains gloves, garbage bags and maps of various locations in Moncton that have been identified as in need of cleaning. Clean-up kits can be picked up at the City of Moncton Operations Centre (100 Worthington Avenue).

Once a location has been selected and cleaned, debris that is collected will be picked up, park or trail side, by Parks Department staff.

For more information on the project, contact Julie Gauvin at the City of Moncton’s Parks and Leisure Services at 506-853-3567 or by e-mail at julie.gauvin@moncton.ca.
