MONCTON – The City of Moncton wishes to remind motorists that when using the two-way left-turn lane, signal your intention to change into the centre two-way left-turn lane, check for oncoming vehicles in the two-way left-turn lane, and when it is safe to do so, enter inside the two-way left-turn lane completely. Stop in the two-way left-turn lane until a gap in the oncoming traffic allows you to complete your left turn.
The two-way left-lane is a lane reserved in the centre of the road exclusive for a left-turning vehicle and is not to be used for passing or travel by driver except to make a left turn. The lane may be used by drivers making a left turn in either direction.
Drivers using the two-way left-turn lane to pass risk receiving a fine under the Motor Vehicle Act in the amount of $292.50 and losing 3 points of their driver’s licenses.
This is important information for motorists as a two-way left turn lane has been incorporated on Shediac Road and will soon be incorporated on Salisbury Road.
