Winners Announced for Zoom in on Moncton Photography Contest

February 25, 2013

MONCTON – The City of Moncton is pleased to announce the winners of the fourth annual Zoom in on Moncton Amateur Photography Contest.

First place went to Derrick MacDougall, who submitted a photo of Victoria Park. He won free photography lessons with Moncton’s own photographer Maurice Henri. Second place went to Cyril Thériault, who submitted a photo of people skating under the lights at Moncton City Hall.  He takes home a $200 gift certificate from Ivan’s Camera.

Winners were selected by a jury consisting of photographers Maurice Henri, Greg Agnew and a City of Moncton representative.

Mr. Thériault was also selected as the “People’s Choice” through the City of Moncton’s Facebook page.  For winning the People’s Choice, Mr. Thériault’s photo will be hung in Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc’s City Hall office.

“This contest is a wonderful way of exploring our beautiful city and promoting the importance of culture and the arts in society,” said Mayor George LeBlanc. “The stunning photographs make me extremely proud of how people see Moncton and all it has to offer. I would like to congratulate everyone for taking the time and effort to participate and look forward to a successful contest year after year.”

Some of the more common locations used that represented Moncton to those who entered the contest included: Bell Aliant Tower, Downtown Moncton, the Petitcodiac River and Moncton City Hall.

All photo submissions can be viewed on the City of Moncton’s Facebook Page at facebook.com/cityofmoncton.villedemoncton.

The City of Moncton would like to thank those who entered the contest and the following partners for their support and participation to the Zoom in on Moncton contest: La Galerie Maurice Henri, Ivan's Camera, Moncton Times & Transcript, and L’Étoile.
