Winter fun in Moncton

MONCTON – Winter can be an enjoyable season and the City of Moncton offers a variety of fun filled activities for people of all ages.  Whether you are already a winter sports enthusiast or getting out for the first time, take the opportunity to embrace winter weather for all the excitement and beauty it has to offer. 

Outdoor Activities



Centennial Park, Mapleton Park, Irishtown Nature Park, Fairview Knoll Park, Northwest Trail, Riverfront Trail and Humphrey Brook Trail, are all cleared for winter walking. 


The City maintains the following outdoor rinks:
Centennial Park: KaBoom rink for hockey, rink at park entrance and the oval 
Victoria Park
Mapleton Park (beside the Rotary Pavilion)
City Hall 
All outdoor rinks are open daily and will be maintained, weather permitting. 

Sleigh Rides

Sleigh rides are available throughout the winter in Centennial Park, weather permitting. To book your group, email general@campcentennial.ca or call 853-3507.

Sliding, Snowshoeing, and Cross-Country Skiing

Centennial Park has many kilometers of groomed cross-country ski trails as well as one sliding hill. You can also go snowshoeing at Centennial, Mapleton, Fairview Knoll and Irishtown Nature Parks.  

If you don’t own skis or snowshoes, you may rent some from the Centennial Outdoor Centre in Centennial Park on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 4 – 7 p.m. New this year! Snowshoes may be rented from the Rotary Pavilion lodge in Mapleton Park on Sundays from 1 – 4 p.m. until the end of February. All rentals are offered if the weather permits.

Snow Motion days in February

Get in snow motion every Sunday in February from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a wide range of activities in Centennial Park and Mapleton Park.

On February 7 and 21, come to Centennial Park and enjoy an afternoon of skating, sliding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing or walking in the trails. If that’s not enough, take a sleigh ride around the park. Snowshoe and cross country ski rentals are available for free during the events.

On February 14 and 28, make your way to Mapleton Park and go for a skate on the new rink next to the Pavilion or a leisurely walk in the trails. Snowshoeing will also be available with free snowshoe rentals offered. 

Indoor Activities



Check out the public skating schedule for the Superior Propane Centre and the Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena. Don’t forget your helmet!


Go swimming at the YMCA for just 2$ on Sundays from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.


Prefer being indoors? The following facilities have scheduled public walking:
Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena
Moncton Coliseum
Moncton Sports Dome – Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
