Events Banner #2

Thanks to world-class event infrastructure, outstanding community engagement, ongoing support from the corporate sector and extensive event hosting experience, Moncton continues to be the destination of choice for many events. The city’s central location, first-class venues, ‘can-do’ attitude and open-for-business approach all naturally position Moncton as a prime event destination.

Moncton has successfully hosted some of the world’s most prominent events. The 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships in Athletics was the largest sporting event ever held in Atlantic Canada, with 1400 athletes from over 170 countries in attendance. The new 9,000 seat capacity Stade Moncton Stadium was built for this event on the Université de Moncton campus. The construction of this new stadium led directly to Moncton being awarded a regular season neutral site CFL game in 2010, 2011 and 2013. Moncton’s reputation as a major sports and events player in the country led to its selection as one of the Canadian cities to host the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™; the largest single sports event for women in the world.

Moncton also welcomed the 2017 Jeux de la francophonie canadienne, the 2013 and 2014 Canadian Senior Track & Field Championships, the 2012 Canadian Figure Skating Championships, the Olympic Torch Relay for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and many other important regional, provincial and national events.

But Moncton’s events reputation doesn’t stop at sports. The Magnetic Hill Concert Site is a premier event destination for mega-concerts. The Rolling Stones performed in 2005 in front of 85,000 fans in what would become the largest concert event ever to take place in Atlantic Canada. From then on, it was music legends and record-breaking ticket sales at Magnetic Hill – Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, The Eagles, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, U2, Nickelback and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have all stepped on stage at Moncton’s famous outdoor venue. The Magnetic Hill Concert Site has developed a reputation for holding the largest concert productions in the entire country.

Moncton is also pleased to be one of the partners who will host the upcoming Congrès mondial acadien in 2019 as well as the 9th international Jeux de la Francophonie in 2021; the largest multi-competition event to be held in Atlantic Canada
