Building New Brunswick
July 19 to September 6, 2009
Come and learn more about New Brunswick’s built heritage! Starting July 19 until September 6, 2009, the Moncton Museum will be presenting the traveling exhibit Building New Brunswick developed by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in collaboration with the architect and author John Leroux.
Building New Brunswick presents the historical evolution of architecture starting from the Aboriginals first installations, to the first settler’s arrival and going all the way to the exhibition’s culminating point: the 20th and 21st century architectural treasures. From the dramatic churches and iconic constructions to the elaborate factories Building New
Brunswick explores every facet of our architectural wonders. Rediscover the esthetic marvels of our province too often forgotten and observe the skills, talent and innovation present in the architectural landscape of New Brunswick.
The exhibition's official opening will take place on Thursday July 30th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The architect John Leroux will talk about 500 years of New Brunswick architecture and its Moncton legacy at 5p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Building New-Brunswick was made possible thanks to J.D. Irving limited, the Telegraph Journal, the City of Fredericton, the New-Brunswick Museum, the Province of New Brunswick and the Canada Council for the Arts.
