Bicycle Locker Program

As part of the Active Transportation Plan, the city continues to promote alternative ways for people to travel within the community. Since the introduction of the AT plan, various initiatives have been developed to provide education and public awareness.

In 2009, the City expanded its bike rack program to include lockers. With increased cycling in the community, cyclists working in the downtown area asked us to provide long-term parking for bicycles in a secured area; therefore, we have introduced the Bicycle Locker Program.

What is a bike locker?

Bicycle lockers provide excellent, secure bicycle parking by improving protection from theft, vandalism and inclement weather. The lockers are designed to hold one bicycle each as well as bicycle gear.
Users will receive one key that will only open one locker. Each locker has a unique lock and key to provide maximum security.

Locker locations

  • Moncton Place Parking Lot (Behind Moncton City Hall)
  • Alma/Church Street Parking Garage (Level 1)

Cost

Bicycle lockers are available for $10 (+ HST) per month for a minimum of six months.
Payment must be made in person at Moncton City Hall by credit card, cash or cheque. Make cheques payable to the City of Moncton.

How to get a Bicycle Locker

The Bicycle Locker application form is made available at City Hall’s Revenue Department.

If the locker you are requesting is available, you will be asked to fill out the form. You will be able to make your payment and pick up your locker key at this location.

Waiting

Lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If there are no lockers available at the time of your request, your name will be added to a waiting list until a locker becomes available, at which time you will be contacted. You may request to have your name removed from the waiting list at any time.

Renewing

Locker users have the opportunity to renew their locker agreements. All users will be sent an automatic renewal notice before their locker agreement expires. If you would like to renew your locker agreement, you must print and sign the renewal notice and return it by mail with your payment or report in-person at the Revenue Desk. Mail-in renewal payments must be made by cheque or money order. All renewals must be completed before a locker agreement expires.
