Water Meter Replacement Project

The City of Moncton is undertaking a phased 10-year project to replace aging residential water meters and water meter transmitting units (MTU). This program is designed to upgrade the technology for approximately 18,000 water meters and MTU's.

The City of Moncton began using residential water meters in 1995, in order to move to a more equitable "user pay" method – just as when someone purchases gas for their vehicle, they pay for what they use.

The new water meters and MTUs will reduce long-term maintenance costs and will be installed at no cost to the property owners/tenant.

The City will be replacing water meters in the area highlighted. (view map).
