Moncton's Whoa Canada! Celebrations to be Headlined by Juno Award-Winning Band Sloan and Acadian Trio Les Hay Babies 2023-05-11

The City of Moncton is thrilled to announce that the headliners for this year's Whoa Canada! celebrations will be none other than the legendary Canadian rock band Sloan and the acclaimed Acadian trio Les Hay Babies.

Sloan, who formed in Halifax in 1991, have become one of Canada's most beloved and enduring rock bands. With hit songs like "Money City Maniacs" and "The Rest of My Life," they've garnered a legion of fans across the country and beyond. Known for their energetic live performances and catchy melodies, the Juno Award winning rock band are sure to get the crowd on their feet and singing along.

Les Hay Babies is a talented indie folk trio from New Brunswick consisting of members Julie Aubé, Katrine Noël, and Vivianne Roy. With a unique sound that blends elements of folk, pop, and rock, the group has gained popularity both in Canada and internationally. Their impressive accolades include a Canadian Folk Music Award and four East Coast Music Awards, cementing their place as a notable force in the music industry.

"We're so excited to have Sloan and Les Hay Babies headlining our Canada Day celebrations this year," says Mayor Dawn Arnold. "Both of these bands are incredibly talented and have a real connection to the East Coast. It's going to be an exceptional show."
 
The Whoa Canada! festivities will take place on July 1st at Riverfront Park in downtown Moncton. In addition to the music, there will be food vendors, family activities, and a tri-community fireworks display to cap off the evening. The full schedule will be released at a later date.
