Road Closures and Detours – Legs for Literacy 2022-10-18

The City of Moncton wishes to advise the motoring public of delays or detours in the following areas due to the Legs for Literacy Marathon happening in the city this weekend.

Detours and Closures for Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022:

Time: 5 a.m. until 1 p.m.

  • Closure of one north-bound lane of Vaughan Harvey Boulevard from Gunningsville Bridge to Canada Street
  • Full closure of Canada Street from Main Street to Vaughan Harvey Boulevard
    • Please note that the portion of Canada Street between Vaughan Harvey Boulevard and the back of the Avenir Centre will be accessible to allow access to Canada Street retailers and the Hyatt Hotel. Controlled access will be given via Vaughan Harvey Boulevard as there are breaks in runners until the last runner has passed. 
  • Closure of east bound lanes of Main Street from Highfield to Lutz
    • Please note that controlled access will be given via Vaughan Harvey/Assomption and Main/Assomption as there are breaks in runners to access residences and businesses affected by the closure. 

Time: 6 a.m. until 9 a.m. (re-opening the street following the last runner) 

  • Closure of east bound lanes of Main Street from Lutz to Wheeler 

The City is asking motorists to use alternate routes when at all possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank residents and visitors for their collaboration. The City also invites everyone to come and cheer on the athletes!
