Planning Advisory Committee

The Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) is made up of volunteers appointed by Moncton City Council. The PAC advises Council on planning-related matters and is the approving authority for variances, conditional use applications, and applications for similar and compatible uses.

Virtual PAC meetings

Council Chambers at Moncton City Hall will be undergoing renovations this summer. Planning Advisory Committee meetings will be held virtually until renovations are complete. PAC meetings

Regular PAC meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month, except for the month of December when the meeting is held on the third Wednesday. 

Meetings take place in Council Chambers at Moncton City Hall unless otherwise noted.

Current Applications

Some development applications require Planning Advisory Committee approval. 

Public notice of these applications is posted to this page and mailed to property owners within a 60-metre radius of the property named in the application. 

The Committee meets once per month to consider applications. All PAC meetings are open to the public. You may submit written comments ahead of time and/or speak on variances and conditional use applications on which the PAC has approval authority. 

456 and 458 McLaughlin Drive

APPLICATION DETAILS

The landowner is proposing to construct a two-unit dwelling facing McLaughlin Drive. The building is proposed to be on the same lot as the multiple unit dwelling located at the rear of the site. This will be a second main building on a lot which is subject to a conditional use application. 

Additionally, a variance application is required to reduce the required 4 metre landscaping at the rear of the building subject to an alternative plan to have a terrace and landscape area to the side and front of the building.

A Temporary Use application has been received to locate a retrofitted shipping container behind the fence at 473 St. George Street to be converted into individual storage units for people experiencing homelessness.

Eastgate Unit 1 Subdivision

APPLICATION DETAILS

ELCE Development Inc. is proposing to develop a Mixed-Use Residential Development off Elmwood Drive, opposite the entrance to Irishtown Nature Park. The proposed subdivision will create 4 new public streets, 290 units of residential development and Land for Public Purposes.

APPLICATION DETAILS

Application to rezone 4 Curry Street (PIDs 00770073 and 00770586) from R2U (Urban Dwelling) to R3 (Multiple Unit Dwelling).

The purpose of the rezoning application is to accommodate a three-story, eighteen-unit apartment building.

1174 Elmwood Drive (Eastgate Village Amendment)

Application Details

ELCE Developments Inc. is proposing to amend specific conditions in the previously approved resolution of Council and to amend the approved zoning to accommodate adjustments to the street layout and adjustments to the location of Land for Public Purposes in the northern section of PID 70573126 (phase one of development) for Eastgate Village on Elmwood Drive.

The application involves rezoning lands from R2 (Two Unit Dwelling) and R3 (Multiple Unit Dwelling) to P1 (Community Use), and from P1 to R1B (Single Unit Dwelling), R2, and RM (Residential Mix). It also involves rezoning lands from RM to R2 and R3, from R2 and R3 to RM, and from P2 (Conservation) to P1.
