Kristin Cavoukian
Kristin Cavoukian is serving her first term on Moncton City Council. She was elected in 2026.
Cavoukian holds a PhD in political science from the University of Toronto and is a part-time lecturer in political science at Mount Allison University and St. Thomas University. In addition to English and French, Cavoukian is fluent in Armenian and speaks intermediate Russian.
Cavoukian also represents and advocates for teachers, administrators, and parents as a councillor on the Anglophone East School District’s District Education Council, a role she has held since 2022.
Off-hours, Cavoukian is a musician, who picks and sings bluegrass with bands like The Sunny Mountain Gals and The Hound Dog Ramblers. She has served as a judge for the JUNO Awards and was an album reviewer for Exclaim! Magazine for a number of years.
Cavoukian is committed to ensuring St. George Street becomes a thriving downtown corridor, being proactive in planning for new schools and advocating for safety in school zones, supporting traffic-calming infrastructure, advocating for safe active transportation infrastructure and efficient public transit service, increasing housing density downtown, protecting existing affordable housing while building more, and helping build a culture of transparency at City Hall.
