Mayor Shawn Crossman

Shawn Crossman is proud of his Moncton roots and his deep connection to the city. A community leader and business professional with more than 20 years of experience, his work has consistently focused on building partnerships, supporting local industry, and advancing practical solutions that help communities grow in a responsible and sustainable way.

Throughout his professional career, Crossman has represented major national and international brands across Atlantic Canada. He is known for his accountability, relationship-driven approach, and ability to bring people together to achieve results. By advocating for local businesses at key industry markets and trade events, he has helped create new opportunities for Moncton’s retail and commercial sectors and reinforced the city’s reputation as a strong place to invest and do business.

Elected to Moncton City Council in 2012, Crossman has earned a reputation as a steady and accessible leader who listens first and acts with purpose. His time on Council has been defined by a focus on community safety, transparent decision making, and managing growth in a way that protects the long-term strength of the city. He has supported major community investments, including the construction of the East End Pool and the activation of the Downtown ENVIRO Team, while consistently working to ensure residents and businesses feel heard and represented.

Crossman is a dedicated community volunteer who has given his time to Lewisville Minor Hockey, the Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena Committee, St. Bernard’s Church, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Moncton. He also founded the Moncton Myeloma Support Group and the Moncton Myeloma March.

Public service is deeply rooted in Crossman’s family history. His father, Norm Crossman, served as mayor of Lewisville and played a key role in its unification with the City of Moncton. That legacy continues to shape Crossman’s commitment to collaborative leadership and strong local government.

Known as an approachable and direct communicator, Crossman brings a balanced, solutions-oriented mindset to every discussion. He believes that a strong city is built through trust, open dialogue, and decisions that reflect the needs of both residents and the business community. His ongoing focus is helping Moncton remain a safe, competitive, and forward-looking city where families feel secure, businesses can grow, and people have confidence in the leadership guiding its future.
