Codiac Regional Police Authority

The Codiac Regional Police Authority (CRPA) is an independent board that oversees police services for Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview.

The CRPA sets the goals, priorities, and objectives for the police service, though these goals and priorities cannot interfere with the internal administration of the Codiac Regional RCMP. Municipal councils cannot directly assign goals or priorities to Codiac RCMP, but they can share their needs and concerns with the CRPA.

The CRPA develops the annual budget for police services for the region and presents it to all three municipal councils for approval. It also reports back to the public, the province, and the three municipalities on policing in the region.

Police services budget

The budget for the Codiac Regional RCMP is shared between the three municipalities in the tri-community according to a formula based on population, calls for service, and other factors. It is divided roughly as follows:

  • Moncton – 70.4 per cent
  • Dieppe – 18.9 per cent
  • Riverview – 10.7 per cent

In 2026, the total police budget was $61.7 million, divided as follows:

  • Moncton – $43.5 million
  • Dieppe –  $11.6 million
  • Riverview –  $6.6 million
