City of Moncton My Gov't at Work Public Safety Police services Police services Codiac Regional RCMP Police services in the City of Moncton are provided by Codiac Regional RCMP, who serve Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview.Codiac RCMP have provided police services to the tri-community since 1998.>> RCMP Codiac Regional Police Authority The Codiac Regional Police Authority (CRPA) is an independent board that oversees police services for Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview. The CRPA sets the goals, priorities, and objectives for the police service, though these goals and priorities cannot interfere with the internal administration of the Codiac Regional RCMP. Municipal councils cannot directly assign goals or priorities to Codiac RCMP, but they can share their needs and concerns with the CRPA.The CRPA develops the annual budget for police services for the region and presents it to all three municipal councils for approval. It also reports back to the public, the province, and the three municipalities on policing in the region. Police services budget The budget for the Codiac Regional RCMP is shared between the three municipalities in the tri-community according to a formula based on population, calls for service, and other factors. It is divided roughly as follows: Moncton – 70.4 per centDieppe – 18.9 per centRiverview – 10.7 per centIn 2026, the total police budget was $61.7 million, divided as follows:Moncton – $43.5 millionDieppe – $11.6 millionRiverview – $6.6 million Investments in police services The total budget for police services has nearly doubled since 2020:2020: $32.1 million2026: $61.7 million New positions added: 2023: Five new police officers2024: Four new police officers2025: 17 new police officers, five municipal support staff New regional policing facility A new $57-million policing facility is set to open in 2026.
