Mandate
The Committee will endeavour to enrich and enhance the quality of life of seniors in the city, identify barriers, form partnerships with the community, and act as a public forum for issues affecting seniors.
The Committee will make recommendations on services that fall within the responsibility of the city and that affect seniors such as:
- public safety
- public works
- recreation
- transportation
Responsibilities
The Mayor’s Seniors Advisory Committee, is responsible to:
- Act as a resource to the mayor and Council on matters affecting seniors.
- Serve as a forum for discussing issues affecting seniors.
- Provide advice to the mayor and the Council based on input received to improve the programs, policies, and services provided to seniors.
- Identify barriers to access by seniors to city services and programs.
- Form partnerships in the community to educate, inform, and improve the quality of life for seniors.
- Follow-up on actions to be carried out as a result of committee meetings.
