Moncton City Council ratified a new collective agreement between the City of Moncton and the City Hall Employees Association (CHEA), local 60200 of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) at its regular public meeting on Nov. 2.

CHEA/PSAC represents approximately 275 employees working in professional, technical, and clerical roles, as well as civilian members of the Codiac RCMP and community safety officers.

The previous agreement expired on Dec. 31, 2025. The two parties had been in negotiations since February 2026.

“CHEA staff are part of every City department, making direct contributions to services that our residents rely on every day,” says Moncton Mayor Shawn Crossman. “We are pleased to have been able to reach a new collective agreement and would like to thank all involved in the bargaining process.”

The new four-year agreement includes annual economic increases of 4 per cent in 2026 and 3 per cent in each of the subsequent years. Other amendments include increases to the employee vehicle allowance, changes to the starting vacation allotment, and the modernization of the job evaluation system, which ensures a fair and consistent pay structure.

"On behalf of CHEA/PSAC local 60200, I would like to acknowledge the successful ratification of our new collective agreement. I want to thank both negotiating teams for their efforts and recognize our members for their patience, solidarity, and support throughout the process," says Rod Dunnett, president of CHEA/PSAC local 60200. "Our members take pride in the work they do and the services they provide to the residents of Moncton. We hope this agreement provides a strong foundation for continued cooperation, mutual respect, and a positive working relationship with the City."

The new agreement will be implemented retroactive to Jan. 1, 2026 and will expire on Dec. 31, 2029.
