The City of Moncton Celebrates International Day of Older Persons

The City of Moncton is proud to celebrate International Day of Older Persons on October 1, recognizing the vital role older adults play in our families, communities, and society.

Established by the United Nations, this day serves as a reminder to promote inclusivity, challenge ageism, and celebrate the experience, knowledge and contributions of older persons. It’s an opportunity to reflect on how we can better support aging with dignity, independence and connection.

Kick off the celebrations with a reception at City Hall on Sunday, Sept. 28 from 2 p.m. to 4 pm! From toe-tapping music to tasty treats and prize draws, this reception is all about fun and connection.

The City and its partners are hosting a number of events on October 1 to celebrate International Day of Older Persons:

  • Free orientation session for seniors with Codiac Transpo.
  • 50% off admission for seniors 60+ at Place Resurgo Place.
