Codiac Transpo launches new reloadable fare card

Posted on April 28, 2026 in News

Codiac Transpo is launching a new reloadable fare card that makes transit payments easier than ever. As part of this transition, existing disposable fare cards will be phased out and will no longer be accepted as of May 12.

Reloadable fare cards will be available at existing points of sale starting May 4. They can also be ordered through the new online portal, with the option to pick up at Codiac Transpo headquarters (140 Millennium Blvd., Moncton) or have them delivered for a fee.

To support the new payment options, Codiac Transpo is installing modern fareboxes on all buses. Passengers will be able to pay their fare using the new reloadable fare card, the Codiac+ mobile payment app, or cash. New farebox Installations will take place from May 4 to 11, during which time transit service will be free.

"Our goal is to enhance Codiac Transpo’s service by making it more modern, convenient, user-friendly, and efficient, with a smooth transition that ensures clarity and ease for all." says Angela Allain, Director of Public Transit.

With the new account-based system, riders can register their cards online, making it easy to reload passes from any device without having to return to the points of sale. Additionally, by registering their cards, customers can track transactions and protect balances on lost or stolen cards.

Seniors (65 +) and students eligible for discounted 30-day passes will be required to do one-time validation by presenting valid ID in person at the Codiac Transpo headquarters.

Codiac Transpo will host sessions at various convenient locations to educate passengers about the new system and exchange passes. Dates and locations will be announced on www.codiactranspo.ca

Balances from old fare cards can be transferred to the new reloadable card by contacting info [at] codiactranspo.ca (info[at]codiactranspo[dot]ca) or calling 506-857-2008
