The City of Moncton, City of Dieppe, and Town of Riverview, together with the Codiac Regional Policing Authority (CRPA) and the Codiac Regional RCMP, officially inaugurated the new Codiac Regional Policing Facility today.

“It is a pleasure to gather with our partners from Dieppe, Riverview, the CRPA and the RCMP to celebrate this important investment in public safety for our region,” says Moncton Mayor Shawn Crossman.

“This facility is the result of years of collaboration and represents a shared commitment to providing residents with effective public safety,” says Dieppe Mayor Hélène Boudreau.

“We are proud to mark this milestone together and look forward to the many years of service this facility will provide to our residents,” says Riverview Mayor Andrew LeBlanc.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by The Honourable Louise Imbeault, Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick, Moncton Mayor Shawn Crossman, Dieppe Mayor Hélène Boudreau, and Riverview Mayor Andrew LeBlanc, along with RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme; Assistant Commissioner Matco Sirotic, Commanding Officer of the New Brunswick RCMP; Codiac Regional RCMP Superintendent Benoit Jolette; elected officials from the three municipalities; members of the Codiac Regional Policing Authority; and other community and government leaders.

“The opening of this new detachment represents a vital investment in the future of public safety for the communities we serve,” says Sirotic. “Thoughtfully designed, the facility provides the much-needed space and resources to support our employees as we continue to evolve and adapt to the growing needs of policing. It reflects our ongoing commitment to modern, responsive policing and to fostering strong partnerships with the people we serve.”

The event highlighted the importance of collaboration among the RCMP, municipalities, and community partners in supporting regional policing services, and included a performance by members of the RCMP Pipes and Drums, a ceremonial flag raising featuring the Canadian flag from the former detachment, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the lieutenant-governor, the mayors of Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview, and the Codiac Regional RCMP superintendent.

“This building is the culmination of many years of work and collaboration between the RCMP, CRPA, and the municipalities of Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview. It will give employees a facility that will equip them with the tools, technology, and environment they need to protect the public,” says Jolette. “It also provides the community assurance that our public safety infrastructure is keeping up with their needs.”

The Codiac Regional Policing Facility is the latest example of the tri-communities working together to deliver shared services and infrastructure that serve residents across the region, ensuring a cohesive approach to service delivery and cost savings for the municipalities.

About the Codiac Regional Policing Facility

Located at 199 Albert St. in Moncton, the $59.2-million, 6,680-square-metre facility has been occupied by the Codiac Regional RCMP and fully operational since summer 2026. It replaces the former Main Street police station and provides modern infrastructure to support policing services across the tri-community region.

The facility was designed with community service, operational efficiency, accessibility, sustainability, and employee well-being in mind. Features include:

  • A community meeting room
  • An atrium with a living wall featuring real plants that are automatically watered using recycled water from the building
  • Dedicated spaces to support employee wellness and mental health
  • A dog-washing station for police service dogs
  • An upgraded Operational Communications Centre
  • Spaces designed to support trauma-informed approaches when taking statements from victims
  • Modern meeting, operational, and specialized spaces
  • Sustainable features designed to support the building’s expected LEED Silver certification, including solar panels, green roofs, EV charging stations, sustainable material reuse, water-reduction measures, and educational features that promote environmental awareness
  • An outdoor public art piece entitled Spirit of Reconciliation, created by artists Brian J. Francis from Elsipogtog First Nation, NB and Jean Hudson from Fredericton, NB
  • Murals and other artwork by local artists selected specifically for the facility

The need for a new policing facility has been discussed since 2012. Construction of the new facility began in May 2022 and was completed in spring 2026. The facility became fully operational in summer 2026.

The facility is owned by the City of Moncton, which managed its construction on behalf of the three municipalities. Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview share the costs of the facility based on each community’s established share of regional policing costs.
