The City of Moncton is thrilled to announce that the headliners for this year's Whoa Canada! celebrations, presented by J.D. Irving, Limited, will be none other than Canadian indie rock band Half Moon Run, alongside Acadian trio Les Hay Babies with a special appearance by Lisa LeBlanc.
Half Moon Run is a Montreal-based indie rock band known for their intricate harmonies and immersive live performances. Since forming in 2009, members Devon Portielje, Conner Molander, and Dylan Phillips have captivated audiences with their genre-defying music, blending folk, rock, and electronic textures. Their latest album, Salt, revisits the band’s formative creative period while addressing contemporary themes, showcasing their signature layered harmonies and emotional depth.
Les Hay Babies is a talented indie folk trio from New Brunswick, consisting of Julie Aubé, Katrine Noël, and Vivianne Roy. With a unique sound that combines folk, pop, and rock influences, the group has gained recognition across Canada and internationally. Their accolades include a Canadian Folk Music Award and four East Coast Music Awards, solidifying their status as a prominent voice in the music scene.
“We’re excited to welcome Half Moon Run, Les Hay Babies, and Lisa LeBlanc to Whoa Canada! this year,” says Chad Gautreau, Manager of Events & Festivals. “This free, downtown celebration offers something for everyone, with a great mix of musical styles. It’s the perfect way for our community to come together, enjoy live music, and celebrate Canada Day in the heart of Moncton.”
The Whoa Canada! festivities will take place on July 1 at Riverfront Park in downtown Moncton. In addition to the music, there will be food vendors, family activities, and a tri-community fireworks display to cap off the evening. The full schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
