In Hindi, the name “Ketan” means “home” and since moving here in 2019, Ketan Raval has worked tirelessly to make Moncton home – not only for himself and his family, but for thousands of new residents.
Raval founded Moncton Cares in 2021 and it has subsequently grown to be one of New Brunswick’s largest newcomer support organizations. To date, the organization has assisted more than 10,000 people to successfully integrate into the community. Leading by example, Raval has embraced a new approach to integration and inclusion and encouraged others to do so as well.
Raval has also championed immigrant entrepreneurs and regional economic development through the New Brunswick Business Immigrant Association, and has served on numerous boards, committees, and organizations, including the New Brunswick Library Board, South East Adult Education, the Community Incubator, the Indo-Canada Association, and the City of Moncton’s Planning Advisory Committee. He is also an active member of the Lions Club, the Rotary Club, and the Progress Club.
In addition to his exemplary community involvement, Raval is a successful entrepreneur. His software company received the Emerging Exporter of the Year Award from Opportunities NB in 2024 and has made meaningful contributions to the city and the province’s economic growth.
Raval has been named a Top 20 Under 40 by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton, has received the Charles III Coronation Medal for community service, and was awarded the Rotary Changemaker Award for inspiring positive change and community leadership. The New Brunswick Multicultural Council presented him with the New Brunswick Champion of Diversity Award for innovation in multiculturalism.
Raval has made exceptional contributions to the social, economic, and cultural fabric of the city and has helped foster understanding of what it means to be an inclusive and welcoming community.
