Moncton Social Inclusion Summit: Building Belonging Together

Date: Tuesday, September 29, 2026 

Time: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Location: Delta Beauséjour, Moncton 

The summit will bring together residents, organizations, service providers, businesses, volunteers, and community leaders for a day of workshops, conversations, cultural performances, and food from around the world.

Workshop themes will include youth leadership, mental health, Indigenous partnership and reconciliation, senior-led inclusion, newcomer experiences, affordable housing, accessibility, LGBTQ+ inclusion, food security, civic participation, anti-racism, and more.

Come share your ideas, learn from others, celebrate Moncton’s diversity, and help shape a more inclusive community.

Space is limited. Please register in advance to help us plan for seating, food, and accessibility needs.

Agenda

We'll kick off the day with a light breakfast and an opportunity to connect with other participants. Please check in upon arrival and enjoy some time to mingle before the day’s activities begin.

Opening remarks, followed by a brief overview of the day’s schedule, logistics and important information.

Led by Donna Augustine. 

Participants can choose from three workshops: 

Option 1: Youth Voices, Community Change: Advancing Social Inclusion Through Youth Leadership in Moncton

Option 2: Building an Inclusive Community Through Mental Health Collaboration and Support

Option 3: Advancing Social Inclusion Through Indigenous Partnership, Voice, and Reconciliation

Take a break, enjoy a coffee and connect with fellow participants.

During lunch, we’ll celebrate community members through recognition presentations, followed by a live performance.

Participants can choose from three workshops:  

Option 1: Aging with Dignity and Connection: Strengthening Senior-Led Social Inclusion in Moncton

Option 2: Welcoming Talent, Building Opportunity: Advancing Newcomer Inclusion Through Business and Economic Collaboration

Option 3: From Policy to Place: Advancing Affordable Housing Through Partnership, Planning, and Community Action

Participants can choose from three workshops:  

Option 1: Naming Racism, Creating Change: Local Action for a More Inclusive Moncton

Option 2: From Access to Dignity: Strengthening Food Security Through Community Partnership and Inclusive Systems

Option 3: From Engagement to Belonging: Strengthening Civic Participation Through Volunteerism, Community Leadership, and City Collaboration  

We'll wrap up the day with closing remarks, a live performance and an opportunity to connect and network with fellow participants. 

Nomination Requests

As part of this event, the City would like to recognize 10 standout staff and volunteers from Moncton’s non-profit and community-serving sectors whose contributions help make our city more welcoming, connected, and inclusive. 

We invite organizations to nominate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to community well-being, social inclusion, equity, and service to others.

You may nominate individuals in one or both of the following categories:

  • Outstanding Non-Profit Staff Member
  • Outstanding Community Volunteer

Nominees may be recognized for contributions such as:

  • Demonstrating leadership in advancing social inclusion, equity, accessibility, reconciliation, anti-racism, or belonging
  • Providing compassionate, reliable, and meaningful support to residents or community groups
  • Helping reduce barriers for individuals or communities experiencing exclusion, poverty, isolation, discrimination, or other challenges
  • Strengthening collaboration among organizations, residents, and community partners
  • Showing innovation, creativity, or perseverance in responding to community needs
  • Contributing significant time, energy, or expertise to improve quality of life in Moncton
  • Supporting underrepresented voices and helping residents participate more fully in community life

While there are many more than just 10 exceptional community members deserving of recognition, we only have 10 awards to give, so be sure to make your submissions shine! 

How to nominate:

Please submit the following information:

  • Name of nominee
  • Nomination category: staff member, volunteer, or both
  • Organization or community group associated with the nominee
  • Nominee’s role or contribution
  • Name and contact information of the person submitting the nomination
  • A brief description of why the nominee should be recognized, including examples of their impact
  • Optional: supporting comments, quotes, or testimonials from community members, colleagues, or service users

Suggested nomination length: 250 to 500 words.
