City of Moncton to Permit Overnight Winter Parking When Conditions Allow 2022-11-30

Moncton logo

The City of Moncton is changing its winter parking restrictions to allow overnight parking on most city streets, unless snow-clearing and ice removal operations are expected or taking place.

This is an extension of a pilot program in the downtown core that began in 2016 permitting overnight parking when conditions allow from Dec. 1 to April 15.

Beginning Dec. 1, this program will be applied to the rest of the city, including zones for the downtown, the hospital areas, and remaining municipal streets.

Residents are responsible for staying informed on whether parking restrictions are in place. The dashboard map at monctonalerts.ca will be updated by 4 p.m. when overnight winter parking restrictions are being imposed. Local radio stations will also be notified.

Residents are encouraged to sign up to receive text or email notices from Moncton Alerts if they want to be notified directly when restrictions are put in place.

Vehicles parked on the street when restrictions are in place risk being ticketed and towed — check for updates before parking.

The changes to winter overnight parking restrictions do not override existing parking regulations such as no parking zones, seasonal parking restrictions on narrow streets, or temporary winter parking bans, and do not apply to private roadways. When in doubt, follow local signage.
